Aloe vera 'Fights Cavities'

Apart from being magically beneficial for sunburns, minor cuts, skin irritation, and many other ailments, aloe vera's healing power extends to teeth and gums, says a new study.

Recently, aloe vera has gained some popularity as an active ingredient in tooth gel, where it is used to cleanse and soothe teeth and gums, and is as effective as toothpaste to fight cavities.

Aloe vera tooth gel is intended to perform the same function as toothpaste, which is to eliminate pathogenic oral microflora—disease-causing bacteria—in the mouth.
The ability of aloe vera tooth gel to successfully perform that function has been a point of contention for some dental professionals.

And the new research could alleviate the concern, as it revealed that the aloe vera tooth gel was just as effective, and in some cases more effective, than the commercially popular toothpastes at controlling cavity-causing organisms.

Aloe latex contains anthraquinones, which are chemical compounds that are used in healing and arresting pain because they are anti-inflammatory in nature.
But, because aloe vera tooth gel tends to be less harsh on teeth, as it does not contain the abrasive elements typically found in commercial toothpaste, it is a great alternative for people with sensitive teeth or gums.

Dilip George, MDS, co-author of the study, explained that aloe "must not be treated with excessive heat or filtered during the manufacturing process, as this destroys or reduces the effects of certain essential compounds, such as enzymes and polysaccharides."

Why Aloe Vera Is Good For You

Aloe vera has been used for more than 3000 years. It is commonly found in many gardens and homes. Its Sanskrit name is Ghikanwar or Ghritkumari. Aloe vera has been known for its healing properties since ancient times. It was used to heal cuts and wounds as it helps formation of scar tissue. It is a powerful natural moisturiser and seals off loss of moisture.

It also softens dead skin cells and helps their removal, leaving the skin smoother and brighter. In fact, it helps the normal functions of the skin by improving its capacity to retain moisture. Aloe vera has anti-oxidant properties too and boosts the skin's cell renewal process. In other words, it helps to delay the visible signs of ageing.
In cosmetic products, the stabilised aloe vera gel or juice is used. It is added to skin care products and lotions, like cleanser, moisturisers, skin serums and so on. However, if the aloe vera plant is growing at home, one can also apply the gel or juice directly on the skin. The gel obtained from the plant itself is the leaf pulp, found in the inner portion of the leaves. The aloe juice is found just beneath the outer skin of the leaves. However, while using it directly on the skin at home, one should wash the plant well and observe total hygiene. The aloe vera gel or juice may be applied on the face and then washed off with plain water after 20 minutes. It helps to soften and moisturise the skin.

In fact, used regularly, it helps to restore the skin's youthful properties. Applying aloe vera is useful during winter and summer. In winter, it helps to relieve dryness and maintain the soft texture of the skin. In summer, it soothes the skin, especially after sun-exposure. It also moisturises the skin, without making the skin oily. Aloe vera can also be added to face masks. Take one tablespoon besan, one teaspoon each of orange peel powder and curd and one tablespoon aloe vera gel. Mix together and apply on the skin, washing it off after 30 minutes. It is a powerful moisturiser and therefore helps in dry skin conditions. It helps to moisturise the skin and seal off the loss of moisture. It softens the skin and helps to remove dead skin cells. It also soothes the skin in cases of sun damage or sun burn. If used regularly, it helps to preserve the skin's youthful properties and delays ageing signs.

Not just limited to herbal medicines, aloe vera is widely used in beauty and cosmetic products as well. This unattractive but highly beneficial plant has been used by different cultures since ancient times for its various benefits. Here are some...

Treats skin problems
Aloe vera gel is very good for treating sunburns, healing cuts and wounds, dermatitis and also insect bites. The best part is that this plant can be consumed and also applied externally.
Lowers cholesterol levels
Aloe is great for maintaining cholesterol levels by reducing tryglycerides. Also, by aiding the stabilisation of metabolic rate, reducing lipid levels and helping burn fat, it is useful for weight loss.

Reduces inflammation
It is said that having aloe vera juice for two weeks can help reduce symptoms of inflammation in the body like rheumatism, inflammation of the ears and eyes and arthritis. Applying the gel externally can ease muscle and joint pain.

Homemade tips to get rid of sun tan

Here are some of the most popular and effective home remedies and methods to remove that horrid sun tan.
You can apply these natural packs to get rid of the tan from your face, arms, hands, neck, back and feet the natural way. These age old home treatments need at least a week of regular use to obtain noticeable results against the tan and to get your natural colour back.

We tend to use fairness cream which contain bleach that are harmful to the skin in the long run and should be avoided.
- A mixture of lemon juice, rose water and cucumber juice should be applied on the face as a face pack. Lemon juice is citric acid that helps remove the tan and the cucumber and rose water are cooling agents.

- Mixing together some honey and lemon juice and applying it on the affected area can be one of the best anti tan pack mixtures.
- Preparing a paste of some raw milk, turmeric and some lemon juice. This mixture should then be applied on the skin and be allowed to remain till it dries up. Thereafter, it should be washed with some cool water.

- Prepare a mixture of oats and buttermilk. This mixture should be rubbed onto the tanned area as the oats will help in exfoliating the skin and on the other hand the butter milk is known to be extremely soothing for the skin.
- Mixing together some gram flour, lime juice and some curd on the affected area on a regular basis gives best results against tanning.

- Applying some fresh lemon juice and allowing it to remain for at least 15 minutes on the elbows, knees or patchy areas helps remove the tan and making it fair.
- A regular use of fresh coconut water on the hands and face is known to be very effective in getting rid of a tan as well as making the skin supple and soft.

- Aloe Vera gel is an excellent remedy for taking care of dark tans. It will lighten the skin in as little as a week, if applied everyday to the affected area. However, aloe has the property of making your skin photosynthetic and can darken it if you go out in the sun without sunscreen lotion. This makes it important to remember to use sunscreen every time you go out.
- A cream with equal parts of milk powder, lemon juice, honey and almond oil can be applied and left on for 20 minutes. This will help lighten your tan. You can store this for about a week and use it thrice daily for best results.

- Apply a paste made with turmeric powder and lime juice thrice a week. This will lighten the skin colour considerably and remove the tan.

- Soak almonds overnight and grind them into a fine paste the next morning. Add equal quantities of milk cream to the paste and apply on the affected area to make the skin fair.
- Apply a paste of oatmeal, yogurt, a few drops of lime and tomato juice. Wash this with cold water after half an hour and see the difference.

- Mash the papaya pulp and massage the sun tanned area. Papaya is excellent for the skin and also helps in anti-aging.
- Combining ash gourd juice with multan mitti and applying it all over the face helps reduce the tan considerably.

A Short Review Of Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is a natural product that is now a day frequently used in the field of cosmetology. Though there are various indications for its use, controlled trials are needed to determine its real efficacy. The aloe vera plant, its properties, mechanism of action and clinical uses are briefly reviewed in this article.
The Aloe vera plant has been known and used for centuries for its health, beauty, medicinal and skin care properties. The name Aloe vera derives from the Arabic word “Alloeh” meaning “shining bitter substance,” while “vera” in Latin means “true.” 2000 years ago, the Greek scientists regarded Aloe vera as the universal panacea. The Egyptians called Aloe “the plant of immortality.” Today, the Aloe vera plant has been used for various purposes in dermatology.

Aloe vera has been used for medicinal purposes in several cultures for millennia: Greece, Egypt, India, Mexico, Japan and China.1 Egyptian queens Nefertiti and Cleopatra used it as part of their regular beauty regimes. Alexander the Great, and Christopher Columbus used it to treat soldiers’ wounds. The first reference to Aloe vera in English was a translation by John Goodyew in A.D. 1655 of Dioscorides’ Medical treatise De Materia Medica.2 By the early 1800s, Aloe vera was in use as a laxative in the United States, but in the mid-1930s, a turning point occurred when it was successfully used to treat chronic and severe radiation dermatitis.
The botanical name of Aloe vera is Aloe barbadensis miller. It belongs to Asphodelaceae (Liliaceae) family, and is a shrubby or arborescent, perennial, xerophytic, succulent, pea- green color plant. It grows mainly in the dry regions of Africa, Asia, Europe and America. In India, it is found in Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.

The plant has triangular, fleshy leaves with serrated edges, yellow tubular flowers and fruits that contain numerous seeds. Each leaf is composed of three layers: 1) An inner clear gel that contains 99% water and rest is made of glucomannans, amino acids, lipids, sterols and vitamins. 2) The middle layer of latex which is the bitter yellow sap and contains anthraquinones and glycosides. 3) The outer thick layer of 15–20 cells called as rind which has protective function and synthesizes carbohydrates and proteins. Inside the rind are vascular bundles responsible for transportation of substances such as water (xylem) and starch (phloem).

Active components with its properties: Aloe vera contains 75 potentially active constituents: vitamins, enzymes, minerals, sugars, lignin, saponins, salicylic acids and amino acids.4–6
1.       Vitamins: It contains vitamins A (beta-carotene), C and E, which are antioxidants. It also contains vitamin B12, folic acid, and choline. Antioxidant neutralizes free radicals.
2. Enzymes: It contains 8 enzymes: aliiase, alkaline phosphatase, amylase, bradykinase, carboxypeptidase, catalase, cellulase, lipase, and peroxidase. Bradykinase helps to reduce excessive inflammation when applied to the skin topically, while others help in the breakdown of sugars and fats.
3. Minerals: It provides calcium, chromium, copper, selenium, magnesium, manganese, potassium, sodium and zinc. They are essential for the proper functioning of various enzyme systems in different metabolic pathways and few are antioxidants.
4. Sugars: It provides monosaccharides (glucose and fructose) and polysaccharides: (glucomannans/polymannose). These are derived from the mucilage layer of the plant and are known as mucopolysaccharides. The most prominent monosaccharide is mannose-6-phosphate, and the most common polysaccharides are called glucomannans [beta-(1,4)-acetylated mannan]. Acemannan, a prominent glucomannan has also been found. Recently, a glycoprotein with antiallergic properties, called alprogen and novel anti-inflammatory compound, C-glucosyl chromone, has been isolated from Aloe vera gel.7,8
5. Anthraquinones: It provides 12 anthraquinones, which are phenolic compounds traditionally known as laxatives. Aloin and emodin act as analgesics, antibacterials and antivirals.
6. Fatty acids: It provides 4 plant steroids; cholesterol, campesterol, β-sisosterol and lupeol. All these have anti-inflammatory action and lupeol also possesses antiseptic and analgesic properties.
7. Hormones: Auxins and gibberellins that help in wound healing and have anti-inflammatory action.
8. Others: It provides 20 of the 22 human required amino acids and 7 of the 8 essential amino acids. It also contains salicylic acid that possesses anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Lignin, an inert substance, when included in topical preparations, enhances penetrative effect of the other ingredients into the skin. Saponins that are the soapy substances form about 3% of the gel and have cleansing and antiseptic properties.

Mechanism of actions
1.       Healing properties: Glucomannan, a mannose-rich polysaccharide, and gibberellin, a growth hormone, interacts with growth factor receptors on the fibroblast, thereby stimulating its activity and proliferation, which in turn significantly increases collagen synthesis after topical and oral Aloe vera.9 Aloe gel not only increased collagen content of the wound but also changed collagen composition (more type III) and increased the degree of collagen cross linking. Due to this, it accelerated wound contraction and increased the breaking strength of resulting scar tissue.10 An increased synthesis of hyaluronic acid and dermatan sulfate in the granulation tissue of a healing wound following oral or topical treatment has been reported.11

 2. Effects on skin exposure to UV and gamma radiation: Aloe vera gel has been reported to have a protective effect against radiation damage to the skin.12,13 Exact role is not known, but following the administration of aloe vera gel, an antioxidant protein, metallothionein, is generated in the skin, which scavenges hydroxyl radicals and prevents suppression of superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase in the skin. It reduces the production and release of skin keratinocyte-derived immunosuppressive cytokines such as interleukin-10 (IL-10) and hence prevents UV-induced suppression of delayed type hypersensitivity.14

3. Anti-inflammatory action: Aloe vera inhibits the cyclooxygenase pathway and reduces prostaglandin E2 production from arachidonic acid. Recently, the novel anti-inflammatory compound called C-glucosyl chromone was isolated from gel extracts.8

4. Effects on the immune system: Alprogen inhibit calcium influx into mast cells, thereby inhibiting the antigen-antibody-mediated release of histamine and leukotriene from mast cells.7 In a study on mice that had previously been implanted with murine sarcoma cells, acemannan stimulates the synthesis and release of interleukin-1 (IL-1) and tumor necrosis factor from macrophages in mice, which in turn initiated an immune attack that resulted in necrosis and regression of the cancerous cells.15 Several low-molecular-weight compounds are also capable of inhibiting the release of reactive oxygen free radicals from activated human neutrophils.16
5. Laxative effects: Anthraquinones present in latex are a potent laxative. It increases intestinal water content, stimulates mucus secretion and increases intestinal peristalsis.17
6. Antiviral and antitumor activity: These actions may be due to indirect or direct effects. Indirect effect is due to stimulation of the immune system and direct effect is due to anthraquinones. The anthraquinone aloin inactivates various enveloped viruses such as herpes simplex, varicella zoster and influenza.18 In recent studies, a polysaccharide fraction has shown to inhibit the binding of benzopyrene to primary rat hepatocytes, thereby preventing the formation of potentially cancer-initiating benzopyrene-DNA adducts. An induction of glutathione S-transferase and an inhibition of the tumor-promoting effects of phorbol myristic acetate has also been reported which suggest a possible benefit of using aloe gel in cancer chemoprevention.19,20
7. Moisturizing and anti-aging effect: Mucopolysaccharides help in binding moisture into the skin. Aloe stimulates fibroblast which produces the collagen and elastin fibers making the skin more elastic and less wrinkled. It also has cohesive effects on the superficial flaking epidermal cells by sticking them together, which softens the skin. The amino acids also soften hardened skin cells and zinc acts as an astringent to tighten pores. Its moisturizing effects has also been studied in treatment of dry skin associated with occupational exposure where aloe vera gel gloves improved the skin integrity, decreases appearance of fine wrinkle and decreases erythema.21 It also has anti-acne effect.
8. Antiseptic effect: Aloe vera contains 6 antiseptic agents: Lupeol, salicylic acid, urea nitrogen, cinnamonic acid, phenols and sulfur. They all have inhibitory action on fungi, bacteria and viruses.

Clinical uses: The clinical use of aloe vera is supported mostly by anecdotal data. Though most of these uses are interesting, controlled trials are essential to determine its effectiveness in all the following diseases.22,23

A. Uses based on scientific evidence: These uses have been tested in humans or animals. Safety and effectiveness have not always been proven.
Conditions: Seborrheic dermatitis,24 psoriasis vulgaris,25,26 genital herpes,27,28 skin burns,5,29 diabetes (type 2),30 HIV infection,31 cancer prevention,32,33 ulcerative colitis34 wound healing (results of aloe on wound healing are mixed with some studies reporting positive results35 and others showing no benefit36 or potential worsening37,38 ), pressure ulcers,36 mucositis,39 radiation dermatitis,40 acne vulgaris,41 lichen planus,42 frostbite,43 aphthous stomatitis,44 and constipation.17

B. Uses based on tradition or theory: The below uses are based on tradition or scientific theories. They often have not been thoroughly tested in humans, and safety and effectiveness have not always been proven.
Conditions: Alopecia, bacterial and fungal skin infections, chronic leg wounds, parasitic infections, systemic lupus erythematosus, arthritis and tic douloureux.

Side effects
Topical: It may cause redness, burning, stinging sensation and rarely generalized dermatitis in sensitive individuals. Allergic reactions are mostly due to anthraquinones, such as aloin and barbaloin. It is best to apply it to a small area first to test for possible allergic reaction.

Oral: Abdominal cramps, diarrhea, red urine, hepatitis, dependency or worsening of constipation. Prolonged use has been reported to increase the risk of colorectal cancer. Laxative effect may cause electrolyte imbalances (low potassium levels).
Contraindication: Contraindicated in cases of known allergy to plants in the Liliaceae family.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Oral aloe is not recommended during pregnancy due to theoretical stimulation of uterine contractions, and in breastfeeding mothers, it may sometime causes gastrointestinal distress in the nursing infant.

Interactions: Application of aloe to skin may increase the absorption of steroid creams such as hydrocortisone. It reduces the effectiveness and may increases the adverse effects of digoxin and digitoxin, due to its potassium lowering effect. Combined use of Aloe vera and furosemide may increase the risk of potassium depletion. It decreases the blood sugar levels and thus may interact with oral hypoglycemic drugs and insulin.
Thus, though Aloe vera has wide spectrum of the properties and uses, some of them could be myths and some of them could be real magic. In future, controlled studies are required to prove the effectiveness of Aloe vera under various conditions.

Forever Living Products is a Scottsdale, Arizona-based company which provides products in the health and wellness products sector.
If you wish to become a top earner in Forever Living Products, you need a way to promote to thousands of people- not just to the small number of friends and family people in companies such as Forever Living Products are taught to approach.

You MUST learn to market!
Read the rest of this article to learn several strategies top 2% earners are using to build large and lucrative businesses in companies such as Forever Living Products:

Be An Extremely Prolific Marketer
Top producers in opportunities like Forever Living Products typically market more prolifically than everyone else.

How skill-fully you implement the primary multi level marketing activities (lead generation, qualifying your prospects, presentation) will impact how quickly your Forever Living Products business grows.
But it's also true that the QUANTITY of your execution matters as much as, or more than, how skill-fully you complete each task.
Marketing more than the competition in Forever Living Products means generating more web traffic and creating a greater number of leads on a regular basis than other marketers in Forever Living Products.
If you're doing article and video marketing, then go ahead and publish a larger number of articles, videos, and blog entries than everyone else promoting Forever Living Products.
Every time you implement more advertising, then you should place more ads, in more places, than everyone else promoting Forever Living Products.
Every time you do webinars to present Forever Living Products then go ahead and do several webinars every single week. Not once every month or so.
Being an extremely prolific marketer means sending an email broadcast with useful tactics (and a call to action!) to your Forever Living Products opt-in leads list each day. Not sometimes. Daily!
Get an edge by just plain IMPLEMENTING MORE MARKETING, FOLLOW UP ACTIVITIES AND DOING MORE PRESENTATIONS than the competition marketing Forever Living Products.
If you drive more website traffic, bring in a larger number of leads, and conduct more webinars than others, you will most likely generate more income than others in Forever Living Products.

Marketing Is More Critical Than Duplication
People in network marketing companies such as Forever Living Products are told they need to keep everything they do simple so people in their Forever Living Products downline can duplicate these activities.

Does this keep everything duplicable strategy actually work? For a very small percentage of marketers, yes, this strategy is effective.
But for the masses of network marketers in opportunities such as Forever Living Products, keeping all the activities in their business simple will NOT necessarily promote duplication.

To prove this to you, look at these stats:
Only about 1 in 5 people in your Forever Living Products downline will sponsor anyone else.

The minority of people that sponsor anyone will only ever sponsor about 2 or 3 people...ever!
The remaining 80% of your Forever Living Products downline won't ever do a darn thing.
The "keep everything duplicable" strategy that network marketers in Forever Living Products are taught (like some ancient gospel) actually only causes 20% of the people to sponsor anyone. And they tend to sponsor a tiny number of people!
The strategy to "keep it simple" sounds great but in practice does NOT invoke high levels of duplication. In fact, this strategy creates problems very few people ever recognize.
The most popular tactic to keep things simple is "warm market recruiting", making a list of friends and family and then prospecting them to try to get them to join Forever Living Products. People promote this strategy not because it's the most effective tactic, but because it's the simplest.
Warm market recruiting can lead people to quit Forever Living Products. After a person runs out of friends and family to talk to about their Forever Living Products business, they often get frustrated and quit the business. They literally have NO IDEA how to do the one thing that can bring in new reps like clockwork, day in and day out: marketing and advertising their Forever Living Products business properly.

The second problem this friends and family approach creates is it repels high calibre prospects. Ideal prospects for a Forever Living Products business are people with transferable skills and large personal and professional networks. Real estate professionals, professional salespeople, executives and other business people fit this category, but these people tend NOT to want to approach family and friends about their opportunity, For many professionals, their reputation is their most valuable asset. Few professionals tend to feel comfortable introducing their network to a business opportunity they just got started with.

Should you start your Forever Living Products business with warm market recruiting? Yes. But unless you learn at least one rock solid marketing and advertising approach, you will run out of people to talk to. Keep in mind your highest quality prospects are going to want to implement a professionally sales and marketing approach as well.
Learn how to market your business on the Internet, and you can attract extremely high calibre Forever Living Products prospects who want to learn the same. Plus you won't need as much duplication because your reach will be so wide you can sponsor many people yourself into Forever Living Products. If only a few high calibre team members learn to market Forever Living Products online, you could build a very large Forever Living Products organization.

Solve Your Attrition Problem
More than 80 percent of the people in your Forever Living Products organization will quit the business within the first year. Attrition can make growing your Forever Living Products business every month very difficult.

People in companies such as Forever Living Products are usually taught two methods to solve their attrition issue. Method one is to assist new Forever Living Products distributors to make money right away, so they get an early taste of success and want to stick around. The second approach is to get your Forever Living Products downline members to feel part of the "team", something bigger than themselves, so they want to stay part of the group. Live team events, Forever Living Products team conference calls, and one-on-one coaching can foster a sense of team.
I have tried both of these methods. They don't stop attrition in opportunities such as Forever Living Products as much as you'd think. And these tactics create other problems.
When you attempt to help EVERY new Forever Living Products rep in your organization get into profit quickly, you spend LOTS of time helping your worst-performing new reps, the people who can't sponsor anyone by themselves. This takes focus away from your best people, the top 20% of your Forever Living Products downline that will drive 80% of all your income. Spending most of your time on the weakest 20% of your people just fosters dependency.

The other approach is to create a sense of team loyalty among your Forever Living Products team through live events, team conference calls, etc. This takes up enormous amounts of time and can also make your people dependent on you. Many of your weaker-performing team members will end up sticking around because they like being part of the team. But these people will NOT sponsor others by themselves routinely into Forever Living Products and will require LOTS of team support in order to stay in the game.
You're running a business, not a self-help group. You must learn to focus 90% of your support efforts on the small minority of people on your Forever Living Products team doing most of the sponsoring, NOT on the masses of people who need the most help.

A totally different approach to addressing attrition is not to try to increase retention, but to make attrition almost irrelevant to your business. To make attrition less of a problem, promote affiliate products to your prospects, which can easily add more than 10 affiliate income streams to your business. This diversifies your income and makes you less dependent on your downline for revenue. When you depend less on your downline for income, attrition matters less.
A second way to make attrition less important is to promote a high ticket opportunity that pays commission of 1,000-1,000’s per sale. Traditional network marketing opportunities like Forever Living Products pay out only about -0 per new signup, so you must develop a large team and residual check to make a substantial income. When you earn 1,000’s + per sign up, you effectively earn 2-3 years  worth of residuals up front, regardless whether your new signup endures for 6 days or 6 years. This approach makes attrition almost irrelevant to your business!

Make attrition far less of an issue by reducing your dependency on your Forever Living Products downline for your income. Diversify your revenue and increase your up-front income. Promote a high ticket opportunity that pays a commission of 1,000 or more, and promote affiliate products

Why Forever Living Aloe Vera

Forever Living produces the finest aloe vera products in the world… Here is a little of their 30-year history:

Forever Living Products is the largest grower, manufacturer and distributor of aloe vera in the world.

The story began in 1978, when Rex Maughan saw the potential of aloe vera coupled with an innovative form of marketing and distribution.

From humble beginnings and a single product – the aloe vera gel drink – Forever Living has consistently grown over the last 3 decades. Its exclusive product line now includes everything from pure aloe vera, to nutritional supplements, bee products, weight management, skin care and color cosmetics.

For over a quarter of a century, Forever Living has dedicated itself to seeking out nature’s best sources for health and beauty, and sharing them with the world.

This constant pursuit of excellence, led by a visionary man called Rex Maughan, has led to Forever Living now operating in 140 countries around the world, with an annual turnover in excess of $2.5 billion.

Forever Living is a vertically integrated company. In plain terms, they own everything – from the land the aloe vera plants are grown on, to the processing and manufacturing plants, to the distribution facilities. Every stage of the sowing, growing, harvesting, stabilising, bottling and shipping process is controlled by Forever Living. So they control the quality at every step…

They own thousands of acres of prime plantations in the Dominican Republic, Mexico and the Rio Grande Valley in Texas, where the aloe vera plants are organically grown. And where FLP provide excellent working conditions and benefits for all the people who work for them.

Why Forever Living Aloe Vera?

As you can already see, there are many reasons why Forever Living Aloe Vera is the best you can buy. Here are a few more reasons:

•FLP grows only Aloe Barbadensis Miller – the most powerful of the medicinal varieties.

• The aloe vera plants are harvested by hand, then washed and filleted to remove the exterior rind. The clear inner gel is collected in stainless steel vats, to be stabilized to ensure the aloe retains its freshness, purity and vital nutrients.

FLP only use the inner gel of the aloe vera plant – not the whole leaf.

•Aloe Vera is the number one ingredient – they don’t simply add a few drops to a product. They start with 100% pure inner gel and combine it with other ingredients as required.

•FLP have a patented stabilization process ensuring their aloe vera is essentially identical to the inner leaf gel. The aloe vera is also free from herbicides, pesticides, pasteurisation, freeze drying and heat treatment. So all of the goodness of the leaf reaches you.

•All their health, beauty and nutritional products carry the International Aloe Science Council Seal of Approval – which certifies that the products contain 100% stabilized aloe vera gel.

•Forever Living is also the world’s largest supplier of bee products in the world. They supply pure bee pollen, royal jelly and bee propolis from their source high in the Sonoran desert in Arizona.

•All of their products are controlled and regularly tested by a team of microbiologists, thus ensuring the ongoing consistency and quality of their products for their customers.

These are a few of the reasons we chose to align ourselves with Forever Living

And as if this wasn’t enough, complimenting Forever Living Products is the Forever Resorts division, which offers superb lifestyle vacations around the world. From luxury houseboats across the USA, to properties in Alaska, game lodges and safari parks in South Africa, the Robert Louis Stevenson Museum in Samoa and Southfork Ranch in Dallas! (Yes, that Southfork Ranch – from ‘Dallas’ fame – which is now a fantastic event and conference centre.)

So you can see that Forever Living Products has come a long way in its almost 30+year history. It’s still growing, still innovating, and still leading the way in pure, natural, aloe vera based health and beauty products.

Aloe Vera Juice for Constipation

Aloe vera has been used for treating many digestive problems. There are various benefits of drinking aloe vera juice. Below, I have narrowed down to the use of aloe vera juice for treating constipation.
Aloe vera, also referred to as medicinal aloe, is a herb which is used for ages for curing and healing many diseases. The antifungal and anti-bacterial properties of aloe vera help in the treatment of internal as well as external problems. It has been used for soothing burns and cuts. It has also proved to be a great moisturizer for skin. It has also been used for sunburn treatments. There are many other medicinal uses of aloe vera like, it promotes blood circulation and helps in maintaining normal blood pressure. The health benefits of aloe vera cannot be overlooked. This natural herb has also proved a good remedy for healing ulcers and maintaining blood sugar levels. Most of the time, it cures diseases without any side effects. But, in some cases, a few side effects of this herb are observed. Let's take a look at benefits of using aloe vera juice for constipation.

Benefits of Aloe Vera for Constipation
Aloe vera juice helps in the promotion of bowel movements, and thus relieves constipation. It maintains a balance by restoring the number of healthy bacteria. The recommended dose of aloe vera juice is 1 tablespoon in water before each meal. This will help to repair damaged tissue in the gut and stimulates all the digestive glands to function properly; stomach, kidneys, gallbladder and liver. Aloe vera juice also helps to rid the intestinal tract of build-up of fecal matter and toxins, all the while acting as a cleansing colonic.

Ways to Use
Chronic gastrointestinal disorders are often caused by a fungal infection of the digestive tract. Aloe vera has antifungal properties that work to stymie candida and keep the digestive tract moving smoothly. Drink aloe vera juice regularly will definitely help if you have chronic constipation. Now let's take a look at some variations of consuming aloe vera for constipation relief.

The recommended course is to consume aloe for 5 days and then rest 2 days. Alternating the use of aloe in this manner can help to reduce chronic constipation and restores a healthy balance of the good bacteria in your colon.

If you wish to make the juice with fresh aloe vera, take the plant pieces and boil them on low flame for about 40-45 minutes. Then let the solution cool off. The liquid that you get after straining is your aloe vera juice. You may consume it directly to reap the benefits.

To consume aloe vera in the gel form, mix two tablespoons of pure aloe vera gel with apple juice or any other type of juice that suits your taste. Generally, aloe vera gel and apple juice go well together. If you wish to use aloe juice drink, just before bedtime or just on awakening, mix 1/3 portions of aloe juice with 2/3 of any juice of your choice.

But, the best remedy for relieving constipation is to drink only aloe vera juice. For extracting the juice, make use of a fresh, thick and fleshy aloe vera leaf. Another option is drinking peppermint tea along with aloe vera, which is also helpful. You can also take aloe vera along with calmative herbs like turmeric.
Now, the recommended dosage for aloe gel is 2 tablespoons each day. For aloe vera juice, 1 quart each day and for aloe vera concentrate, take 5 g up to 3 times each day. In order to avoid recurrence of constipation, make sure that you increase the intake of fiber in your diet. Aloe vera products react differently with different individuals, so use common sense and remember to avoid aloe for treating constipation among pregnant and menstruating women, and consult a physician when in dou

Aloe Vera Juice Side Effects

Aloe vera juice is extensively used in the treatment of a number of health problems such as constipation and heartburn. However, even this herbal cure is not without its apparent side effects. Following are some of the aloe vera juice side effects.

With the popularity of aloe vera on the rise, and various companies marketing the numerous health benefits of this miracle herb, little is known about the side effects of the aloe vera extracts. The gel and leaves, that are used for making cosmetic, food and health products, are obtained from the Aloe Barbadensis Miller plant, which is the only type of aloe vera plant from which substantial, clear gel extracts can be taken. The transparent, clear gel, within the succulent aloe leaves has been used for thousands of years to treat skin problems, wounds and burns.

Recently, people have started using the green portion of the leaves as well. The outer part of the aloe leaves are crushed, and made into aloe vera juice, or dried and used as a laxative. Aloe vera juice in itself has quite a number of health benefits, which includes relief from digestive problems, constipation, heartburn and irritable bowel syndrome. It is believed to be beneficial in regulating the blood pressure and sugar levels. Aloe vera juice is said to be a potent drink that is useful for strengthening the immune system. Unfortunately, while raving about the benefits of this amazing drink, the side effects of this drink have remained unnoticed.

Side Effects of Aloe Vera Juice

Aloe Vera as a Laxative
Aloe vera consists of the gel and the latex. The latex of the aloe vera leaf refers to the yellow part which lies just beneath the leaf skin. It contains anthraquinones like aloin, which are responsible for the laxative properties of aloe vera. When present in aloe juice, the latex can ease constipation, and stimulate bowel movement. However, studies have found that when used for a long period of time, people developed a sort of tolerance, and needed increased doses to get the same laxative effect. In fact, prolonged usage of aloe vera juice as a laxative can increase the risk of constipation. Moreover, the intake of aloe latex was associated with a depletion of the potassium from the cells in the intestinal lining. This is the reason that aloe vera laxatives were banned by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) since November 5, 2002.

Increases Risk of Diarrhea
The presence of anthraquinones in aloe vera juice increases the risk of diarrhea especially when consumed in large quantities. The diarrhea caused by the laxative in this juice is often severe, and accompanied by pain, stomach cramps and dehydration. It can also cause the urine to turn red.

Carcinogenic Risk
Studies done by the National Toxicology Program (NTP), have found carcinogenic activity in rats that consumed decolorized extracts of a whole leaf of aloe vera. Although the studies have not been proved in humans, the possibility of a carcinogenic risk in humans cannot be ruled out. Intake of aloe vera juice is associated with the risk of colorectal cancer.

 Leads to Electrolyte Imbalance
The stimulant laxatives in unprocessed aloe vera juice can cause dehydration, and electrolyte imbalance with frequent use. The drop in the potassium levels in the blood results in weakness, and irregular heartbeats.

 Interaction with Drugs
Aloe vera juice can have adverse interactions with prescription or over-the-counter medications. For example, diuretic drugs or water pills decrease the potassium levels in the body, which is what the laxative in the aloe vera juice does as well. This can lead to a sharp drop in potassium levels. Moreover, the laxative effect in aloe vera juice can decrease the rate of absorption of medicines in the body. Here are a list of some medications, that can have a negative reaction or cause side effects, when taken in conjunction with aloe vera juice.

Stimulant Laxatives (Lanoxin, Correctol and Dulcolax)

Antidiabetes drugs (Examples: Glucophage, Glucotrol, Orinase and Amaryl)

Diuretic Drugs (Examples: Diuri and Lasix)

Sevoflurane (decreases blood clotting) used for anesthesia

In addition to this, aloe vera can also have interactions with other herbs and dietary supplements. Intake of stimulant laxative herbs, such as jalap root, bark root, castor oil and rhubarb root along with aloe vera juice, can cause diarrhea and dehydration. Interactions with supplements like fenugreek, garlic and psyllium which lower the blood sugar levels, can have a negative effect on the body. Intake of aloe vera juice, along with licorice or horsetail should be restricted, as these herbs can lower the potassium levels significantly.

 Aggravates Certain Health Problems
Aloe vera juice, containing the aloe latex can aggravate health problems like Crohn's disease, colitis, intestinal obstruction, diverticulitis, appendicitis, hemorrhoids, stomach pain or ulcers. Studies have found that aloe vera when taken orally has the potential to lower the blood sugar levels. However, if a person is already undergoing treatment for high blood sugar or hypoglycemia, then it is advisable to consult a doctor before taking aloe vera juice. Reports of hepatitis caused by oral consumption of aloe, can be a cause for concern for people with liver problems.

Complications in Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Consuming aloe vera juice during pregnancy, or while breast feeding is severely restricted due to its irritant and purgative properties. Aloe vera should be restricted during lactation, as the presence of anthraquinones in the breast milk may lead to diarrhea. In pregnant women, aloe vera juice can cause uterine contractions, and even result in a spontaneous miscarriage. Aloe vera juice is also unsafe for children below twelve years of age, as it can lead to diarrhea and abdominal cramps.

It is important to note, that this list of side effects of aloe vera is based on medical and other research. There is no definitive evidence to prove the health benefits, or side effects of aloe vera juice. Most of the side effects are due to an overdose or improper use. Some people who are allergic to foods like onions and garlic, may be allergic to aloe vera as well. If you are suffering from an allergy or side effects, then stop consuming aloe vera immediately, and seek medical help as soon as you can. Also, if you are on any medication or suffer from any health condition, then seek the doctor's advise before having aloe vera juice.

Aloe Vera Juice for Weight Loss

In spite of the many health benefits offered by aloe vera, its use in weight loss is still quite unknown. When taken in proper amount, and with suitable method, it can effectively help to lose weight.
Aloe vera extract has been used as a soothing balm for burns and to heal cuts and wounds. However, there are very few people who are aware of the fact that it can also be used to facilitate weight loss.
Aloe Vera Juice and Weight Loss
That aloe vera assists in weight loss was a relatively unknown fact. It stimulates the metabolic rate, due to which more energy is consumed. This helps in stabilizing and reducing the body mass index. The energy which is burned is taken from the fats and carbohydrates stored in the body. It is said that drinking aloe vera juice through the week is equivalent to multiple workouts done through the week.
Apart from stimulating your metabolic rate, the other reason why aloe vera juice aids in weight loss is that it contains high amounts of the protein, collagen. The body has to spend extra energy to assimilate the collagen protein in the body. The expenditure of extra energy helps in weight loss. At the same time, due to the collagen protein, it also promotes muscle development.
Aloe vera juice is also a laxative, due to which food is forced out of the colon faster. Hence, less energy is absorbed from the food. As there are so many benefits of aloe vera, it is not astonishing that it is called 'the dietary plant' and also the 'harmony remedy'.
Using Aloe Vera
Since aloe vera juice has a bitter taste, it is recommended that it be mixed with vegetable and fruit juice, which will make it palatable. However, if you want, you can also choose to have the juice plain on its own as well. In the initial days, one can choose to have about two ounces of aloe juice combined with vegetable or fruit juice. Gradually over a period, the quantity of the aloe juice can be increased to eight ounces.
Along with weight loss, to achieve greater benefits I would suggest you have a well chalked out exercise and diet program as well. A minimum of 30 minutes exercise for 3 to 5 days a week is recommended. You should adopt a low fat, low sugar and low calorie diet to keep the pounds at bay. At the same time increase the amount of fiber consumption, and say no to fast food.
Other Health Benefits of Aloe Vera
Aloe vera juice is an excellent natural nutritional supplement, which contains as many as twenty amino acids, twenty minerals and about twelve vitamins. Here are some of the health benefits of aloe vera.
Improves blood circulation
Regulation of blood pressure
Strengthens the immune system and defends the body against bacterial and viral attack
Promotes healing of bones, joints and internal tissue damage
Heals ulcers
Eliminates constipation
Regulates the level of sugar in the blood
Helps in dilating capillaries and supports cell growth, which in turn helps in improving circulation
To gain the benefits of the medicinal uses of aloe vera, you will have to consume two to four ounces of aloe vera juice a day. If consumed daily, it also aids in digestion, detoxifying the body, and cleansing the colon.
There are not too many known side effects of aloe vera juice, if taken in moderation. It is advisable to seek advice from your health care professional, if you suffer from colitis, appendicitis, intestinal problems or Crohn's disease. Even women with active menstrual cycle should have a word with their health care professional if they want to start consuming aloe vera juice for weight loss. At the same time, if you are on medication, then talk to your physician, as aloe vera can affect the effects of medication. Pregnant women should not consume aloe vera juice without medical advice.
